jamie's priorities

Issues

Lowering the Cost of Living

People can’t afford the rising costs food, housing, and gas prices. People who work hard deserve to live a middle-class life.

• I will vote to suspend the Gas Tax. It costs Californians thousands each year and drives up the price of food, housing and commuting.

• I will protect Prop 13 and stand up to unfair regulations that punish farmers and small businesses and force them to raise prices.

Preventing Wildfires and Protecting Homes

As insurance companies reassess risk in fire-prone areas, countless residents are receiving non-renewal notices, skyrocketing premiums, or being forced into the costly California FAIR Plan.

• My priority will be to work with Sacramento politicians to make fire insurance accessible and affordable.

• I’ll continue to push the importance of forest management, urban vegetation management, hardening property around homes and businesses and adding firefighters.

• The national stage is set after the fires in Los Angeles. We must seize the opportunity to make change and work with our counterparts down south when it comes to managing forests and fire prevention and recovery. The first step is eliminating regulations that prevent action being taken.

Protecting Farms, Water, and Good Paying Jobs

As President/CEO of the California Farm Bureau (2017-2023), I fought for nearly 30,000 family farmers, protected water rights and stood up for jobs that keep food on the table and our local economies growing.

• When special interest pushed fees that threatened to destroy farms, I led the fight to stop them-and we won.

• When the State Water Board tried to take our water, I rallied farmers and workers at the Capitol and stopped them. My water plan is one that delivers abundance – more storage (Sites Reservoir), and smarter conservation that benefits farms and cities.

• I stood up to protect farmers during the trade war with China, ensuring farms stayed open and thousands of jobs were saved.

Securing the Border

The flow of dangerous drugs, human trafficking, and cartel members across our border must stop.

• I have been to the border. I have seen first-hand the need for the wall and will demand California help secure our southern border and enforce our immigration laws.

• Criminal illegal immigrants should be arrested and deported to their home country.

Holding Criminals Accountable, Putting Safety First

No one should fear for their safety, whether at home, in the neighborhood, or at work. Enough is enough.

• Sexual predators who harm children deserve life sentences. One strike, and they’re out of our communities for good.

• Fentanyl and opioid dealers fuel homelessness and crime. I support tougher penalties to get them off our streets.

• Victims come first. If we need more prisons, we’ll build them. If we need more police officers, we’ll hire them.

Ending Fraud and Waste in Sacramento

California taxpayers send billions to Sacramento — and billions disappear. From EDD fraud to homelessness spending with no accountability, the waste is not an accident. It's what happens when politicians stop answering to the people.

• I will push for independent audits of state agencies and demand full transparency on where taxpayer dollars are actually going.

• I will oppose any budget that lacks real accountability measures. If the state can't prove the money is working, the program doesn't get funded.

• Northern California sends more than its fair share to Sacramento. It's time we demand something back besides broken promises.

Cutting Taxes and Letting People Keep What They Earn

California has some of the highest taxes in the nation — and working families and farmers in the North State feel it every day. Sacramento's answer to every problem is to take more from the people who are already stretched thin.

• I will oppose any new taxes on income, property, or agricultural land that burden working families and farm operations.

• I will fight to repeal or reform taxes that drive jobs and businesses out of California and into neighboring states.

• Hard-working people in Northern California deserve to keep more of what they earn. Government should live within its means — just like every family and farm has to.
